Included Features Lifetime Traffic Updates** If you have ever been caught in slowed traffic or held up by a traffic jam, what would you have given to know about the problem ahead of time and shown a way to avoid it? TomTom automatically updates your TomTom GPS with the latest traffic information, recalculates your trip time, and suggests alternate routes. **You receive non-transferable traffic data until the product’s useful life expires or TomTom no longer receives traffic updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter. EasyMenu™ Since it’s a known fact that no one reads the instruction manual until it’s too late, Tom Tom has created EasyMenu™ allowing the user to easily access all of TomTom’s powerful features through its simple and intuitive two-button menu. Just a tap gets you started, and easy-to-follow commands and recognizable icons lead you through a quick start-up process to get you on the road in no time. Spoken street names The one feature that no one should be without is “text to speech”. This is probably the most important safety feature you can have with your GPS. The TomTom XXL 535T not only will tell you when and what direction to turn but will also announce the street name on which you should turn thus, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road and concentrate on driving the vehicle. 5.0" Touch Screen You’ll appreciate the 5.0” extra-wide, anti glare, color touch screen makes reading the maps an easy shore not to mention reading the menus and icons. IQ Routes™ A unique feature which is proprietary to TomTom is IQ Routes™. Despite posted speed limits, traffic traveling along a road at 8 a.m. moves at a different pace than it does at 2 p.m. Actual traffic speed is affected by rush hour, traffic light changes, pedestrian traffic, day of the week, and more. Only TomTom’s exclusive technology evaluates routes based on actual traffic speeds, rather than posted speed limits, and will recommend the fastest route for the time of the day. Advanced Lane Guidance Nothing is more frustrating than finding yourself in the wrong lane for an upcoming turn on a crowed freeway. The TomTom XXL 535T provides extra clarity when navigating difficult junctions by showing you which lane to take, so you won’t miss your turn or have to make dangerous lane crossings. Photorealistic images and a pulsing green arrow indicate exactly which lane to use. Map Share™ On-Demand Updates Eighteen percent of the nation's road information changes every year. With TomTom’s exclusive Map Share feature, you have the ability to update your own map instantly or download verified updates from other drivers. Update your TomTom daily or whenever you wish. Help Me! emergency menu Travel with peace of mind. You can easily access local emergency providers such as police, fire stations, and hospitals. The “Where Am I?” feature pinpoints your exact location so you can accurately communicate it to emergency resources. QuickGPSfix™ Why wait? With QuickGPSfix™, TomTom locates your first GPS position in seconds so you can get on your way quickly. Easy to use and program. While hooked up to the computer there is some difficulty programming the unit due to website unavailability. Simple to use and works like a charm. By ReviewFromNE, 08/04/2010
Sorry Tom Tom, but I'm so disappointed. The device is attractive and the big screen is nice, but the first 2 directions were completely wrong and I don't find it very user-friendly when trying to program anything but a specific location. I can't download from Tom Tom Home on my computer - what technology doesn't support Windows 7 these days (the support person actually asked me, "well do you have another computer?", uh - didn't realize I'd need more than one). After 2 days, over 4 hours, a painful customer support call and nothing but more waiting, I gave up & am returning the device. Hope you all have a better experience than me. I bought and tested the XXL 535T today. It seemed to work fine on the drive home, although it kept telling me to make an illegal u-turn when I purposely drove past my exit. When I arrived home I attempted to update the unit with the latest map pack via the TomTom Home software. The maps downloaded fine but failed to copy to the unit. I backed up the maps with the Home software, deleted them, and tried again to copy the new map pack over. This also failed. I then tried to manually copy over the map pack in Explorer, similarly resulting in failure. Finally I tried restoring the backed up maps, with the same result (failure.) Now whenever I turn on the unit it shows "no maps found." It's completely unusable. Some quick searching on the internet reveals this is a common problem with TomToms because the Home software is complete garbage. I'm returning the unit and getting a Garmin instead.
