Magellan Maestro 3200

The Magellan 3200 has a bright 3.5" screen and a slim, sleek design. It comes with preloaded maps of the lower 48 States plus Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The maps may be viewed in 2D or 3D and with "TrueView" you can view a split screen, getting a detailed picture of the approaching turn.

Like all of the Magellan Maestro portable auto GPS units, the Magellan 3200 is very easy to program. To create a route you can simply enter your desired address on the touch screen. With "QuickSpell" activated, it will anticipate your entry and finish entering it for you. It will also correct your spelling. Another way to create a route is by scanning the 1.3 million Points of Interest. By touching the displayed icon, for a given destination, a route to that destination will be created for you.

You also have the ability to customize the way routes are created. You can select items such as: the fastest route, the shortest distance and the most economical. You can also select whether or not to use freeways, avoid tolls and more. If you get distracted and miss your turn or take a wrong turn, "Auto reroute" will get you back on course. Stuck in a traffic jam? "SmartDetour" can be customized to activate when it senses that you are in a traffic jam and it will create a detour around the problem.

Included with the Magellan 3200 is a SD card slot and an address book. If you wish to use the SD card slot you will have to purchase the SD card separately as it is not included with this car GPS system. The address book allows you to enter your own Points of Interest in addition to the 1.3 million already preloaded. You can backup your address book on the SD card.

The MSRP of this unit is $319. If you are planning on purchasing a car GPS system, you may want to look at the Magellan Roadmate as it offers more for less money.

This product works as advertised, it will give you spoken directions to the place you designate. It is small, literally fits easily in a shirt pocket, and the image is readable, "voice" is loud enough to be easily understood, and battery life is good. It announces each juncture with a loud tone (you can choose from several options), and each point is indicated very precisely, enough to amaze passengers who have never used a GPS before. The screen clearly tells you at top and bottom what road your on now, and what road you'll next be turning or exiting onto. One negative is that the library of Points of Interest is quite small--Small enough to be inadequate if you depend on them, rather than on entering addresses.

Magellan Maestro---Love it!!!!!!!

I purchased this product and immediately put it to the test on a trip to Boston. This product saved me time and frustration. It was easy to use and accurate.

My only difficulty was with the mounting on the window shield, it has to be positioned just right in order for it to get the appropriate amount of suction. Highly, highly recommend this product.

I recently relocated from Phoenix, AZ to San Diego, CA and at the last minute decided I should pick up a basic GPS so that I could navigate my way around San Diego without too much stress. From top-to-bottom, this product was and is continuing to be a lifesaver. It's very easy to setup and even easier to use. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, but want something that is small/lightweight and very portable (slips into your front pocket with ease) then this device is for you. Inexpensive, accurate, and easy to use. Very High recommendation!

Make sure your maps are up to date when buying!!

If this unit gets too close to other satellite tech stuff in the car like cell phones, my car's Lojack, etc., it will throw you off by about 10 feet...this is important because the GPS thinks you've turned off the route and it tries to reroute you back on..it also constantly says, "recalculating route", over and over again while it's doing it. your original route disappears and you have to enter it all over again.

Loved the unit until I discovered, three months after purchase, that a map update became available 14 days after I purchased this unit. Because I wasn't aware that the installed map, dated 1st quarter 2007, was on my GPS...I didn't think about looking for an update until recently. There was a new updated map, released on 08/08/08, and I purchased the unit 14 days earlier, on 07/25/08. However, now that I have had the unit for more than 30 days, Magellan is refusing to give me an update, but telling me I will have to pay the $79 for the new map.

This gps works as well as pricier models. It is sometimes a little difficult to hear and sometimes takes you on unnecessary streets instead of taking the straightest route. Well worth it for the price of it though. I travel often and have yet to get lost while using this system!
