Magellan Maestro 4200

The Magellan Maestro 4200 comes with preloaded maps of the lower 48 States plus Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Its' sleek design and wide (4.3") screen create a very attractive unit. That being said, the Magellan Maestro 4200 is mostly a basic "bare bones" style portable navigation GPS. The preloaded maps are viewable in 2D and 3D and with "TrueView" you are able to get a split screen which will give you a detailed picture of an approaching turn.

Entering your desired destination is made easier with "QuickSpell" which will auto-complete your entry and even correct your spelling. You may also create a route to one of the 1.3 million Points of Interest preloaded on the Magellan 4200. Simply touch the on-screen icon and a route to the facility will automatically be created. You can customize your routes by setting criteria for items such as the fastest route, the most economical, avoid freeways, tolls, etc.

Auto reroute will get you back on course should you miss a turn or make a wrong turn. "SmartDetour" can be customized to automatically kick in when you are stuck in slow moving traffic to reroute you around the problem.

The Magellan Maestro 4200 comes with preloaded speed camera locations and will sound a warning when you are approaching one of those locations. It also has preloaded 1.3 million Points of Interest. In addition, the "Address Book" enables the user to add their own Points of Interest. The Magellan 4200 comes with a built-in SD card slot however, the SD card is not included with the unit. A SD card would allow you to back up your information. This is truly a basic portable navigation GPS and you can find others on the market offering more functions at the same price.

I received my Magellan GPS promptly and I like it. It is easy to program and to operate. The driving directions are clear and so far they have been accurate. I am glad that I made the purchase!

Good Travel Companion - The picture quality is great. The options for traveling are superb. Works great in the city as well as the open road.

Magellan Maestro 4200 - This is a great product I just turned it on and it did it's thing. I went from St. Louis to my sisters exact address in Chicago, even missed an exit and it recalculated the route. I never leave the house without it I was so tired of getting lost and that is a thing of the past now.

Good but not Excellent - The Magellan 4200 has a few standard features that you will find in more expensive models. It is lacking the street name directions. All you get is turn left or turn right. That part is annoying. You can still mute the unit and you will be ok.I tried searching a few addresses and it was pretty accurate. So in that sense is good. I will probably sell this one and get a better model. Overall, it is a pretty decent unit. Easy to use.

Magellan is a decent GPS - I have 2 Magellans and I am relatively happy with them. At times it will send me the long way or take a while to recognize the current location.

Looks Good - Works well. I am not satisfied with the touch screen. The Instrument fell from the hook twice but inside the car and the touch screen does not work well. Have to move the screen a little to adjust. No text to speech. Is a bad thing. but was really helpful in long distance drivings.
