The GPS Tracking Key is a tiny, covert portable GPS tracker and uses only 2 AAA bateries. Record the minute by minute movement of your vehicle, child and more with these personal GPS trackers. This tiny portable tracker is only 3.8"x1.46"x1.34" , about the size of a package of gum. With its' magnetic mounting capability, you can mount the device covertly in a matter of seconds. It operates on 2 AAA batteries with a battery life of 28 hours, longer with Lithium Ion batteries.

Because this is a passive (record only) device, there are no Fees of any kind to operate the device. Simply download the software off the enclosed CD and you're off.

You can accurately determine where a person traveled, how fast they drove, where they stopped and for how long. The recorded data from the Tracking Key can be displayed over a street map, satellite images (Google Earth) or in a text report. The Tracking Key can be placed inside, outside and even underneath the vehicle. The Tracking Key portable GPS tracker is also water resistant.

To download the information just remove the cap that covers the built-in USB plug, plug it into your computer and download the information.

The new TracKing portable tracker is powered by 2AA batteries, or it can be wired to the vehicle's electrical system. Its' size is 3.01"X1.95"X1.4" (including the magnetic mount). On battery it will give up to 100 hours of flash memory tracking time.

We've had this for two months and it's been very good for letting us know where our teenage son(newly licensed) has been. He doesn't like it because we have caught him in a few lies about where he's been. He is finally starting to think twice about lying to us, and it's helping us to get closer to trusting him with the car. I have found that sometimes it can be a little bit off on the car's exact location but it's usually within 3-4 houses. I have used both alkaline and lithium batteries in it and I'm not sure I get enough extra life out of the lithiums to make it worth the cost. I also wish it was easier to change the batteries. One of these days I'm going to lose one of those tiny little screws. I've used it in several different places inside the car and have found that it really needs to be on a flat surface to get a good satellite fix. It's real easy to upload to a computer, and though the maps that came with it are old, I can use Google Earth also.

GPS Tracking Key

First, let me identify my goals for this Tracking Key. We run a service business. We have a need to recapture the routes the vehicles have traveled for the day, what stops were made(addresses), how long those stops lasted, and the exact time of the arrivals and departures.

Also, we wanted to view the route on a map to identify instances of getting lost, and have a printed report of the stops and times for the day.

On the first day we clipped this unit under the seat of the car. When we downloaded the data for that day, it only showed 3 of the 6 stops made, and there was no accounting at all for about 3 hours of time.

Thinking it might be a placement issue, the next day we placed it on top of the dash, in plain sight, where the instructions said it would get it's optimum satellite signal. It still took almost 10 minutes to acquire a GPS signal to begin tracking once movement began.

The unit is not sensitive enough to awaken within the first few feet of movement, and takes much too much time to acquire a GPS signal, making it impossible to recapture continuous data.

Other design issues are lack of an on/off switch so the unit is always on, draining the batteries. The manufacturer says the unit goes to low power mode when not moving but see my comment about that feature. Also, to change the batteries, you must remove 4 super small screws. This will lead to stripped screws in short order. There needs to be a latch device instead.

We are sending it back for a refund.

I bought one but was skeptical. Now I am a believer. Product functions great - easy to hide easy to use. No cables needed - it plugs directly into your USB port. I have the basics down but I do struggle with the software. It may just be me but after a year, I can still only use the basics ... on the plus side the basics are enough and the customer supprt is excellent.

The Tracking Key is the best tool I've found to track my daily business travel around town. It shows me exactly where I've been and how far I traveled to get there. The time stamps help me track my time also.

You HAVE TO initially clear the memory and take a sample drive with the unit. It stays in sleep mode while at the PC and takes a while to acquire three satellites.
