Golflogix GPS is simple to use
just turn it on and play

Golflogix

The Golflogix GPS 8 cuts right to the chase. Void of extra bells and whistles, this little unit is rugged and 100% waterproof.

With Garmin inside it provides fast, accurate information you need when out on the course. Some refer to the unit as a golf GPS range finder and in a way it is, but it's really a lot more than that.

The Golflogix GPS allows you to automatically view distances to the front, center, and back of each green plus up to 6 hazards and lay-up distances per hole on a large, easy to read screen. The only button you push is to turn it on. That is not to say there aren't other buttons. On the left side of the unit is the scroll up and down button. This allows you to manually advance to the next hole, although the unit will do it for you automatically. The second button on the left side is the enter button. This allows you to track your shot distance. On the right side is the power button and the page down button to allow you to manually select other courses. The distance information continually updates as you advance on the course. It auto-advances to each target on the course for completely hands-free use, so there is no need for complex button layouts to learn or lasers to point during your round. It will also record the distance of your last shot.

The GPS 8 will store up to 20 courses and it even knows what course you are playing and what hole you are on. That's more than I can say about some guys I've played with.

Courses are easily downloaded on your PC or Mac and transferred to your Golflogix GPS. Yes, it's compatible with Vista.

I spent some time looking into the many different GPS yardage devices on the market and came to the conclusion that all I really wanted was a device that can give me yardage to the green (front, center, back) and yardage to hazards and also to clear them. That's exactly what the GolfLogix does. It's not fancy, there's no graphics, can't keep track of your score, doesn't have a color screen but that's okay with me. I've played 5 rounds (two rounds with a GPS in the cart and 3 rounds at my home course) with the GolfLogix and I believe that the yardage is accurate to within 1-3 yards. So, unless you're a serious amateur or play for big $$$ (I'm a 15 handicap) I think it's more than sufficient. As for battery life; I recommend using rechargeable ones and just replacing them after a round or two. The other complaint I kept reading about was the unit "locking up", well so far that has not happened to me. Set up was very straight forward and not a problem at all. The only item I can gripe about has nothing to do with the performance of the unit but rather the $29.95 yearly charge to upload all the courses. Other than that I would highly recommend the GolfLogix.

It does an average job at telling distances, but it does not automatically come up to the course you are on when you get to the first tee box. It also does not last long on a set of batteries. I think they are all the same, so just go with the best priced gps you can find if you really want one.

This works really well. Just as advertised. I bought the subscription for $30 and all the courses I play down loaded. The only negative is that for the price they could add a shot counter and when you add a course to the device you have to reload the courses already installed. Overall I am more than pleased with it and glad I bought it!

This GPS gives basic info but lacks detail. I play with the course that I was familiar with and it helps interms of distance to the green. But when it comes to waterhazard and sand traps, this unit will not help especially when there are multiples. The battery also does not last more than 3 rounds.

I have used the Garmin a handful of times. It is more accurate than cart GPS systems. I have walked off yardages to comfirm its accuracy. I found cart GPS systems to be off by as much as 10 yards. That's one more club for me. I have started to hit more greens since using the Garmin.

Absolutely the best gps on the market for simplicity .There is no need in using any instructions,by the end of the first hole you will have figured it out.It gives you plenty of on course info to help lower your score at one quick glance, without having to push a lot of buttons and take time away from your game.Life just got a lot easier out on the course with the garmin.

GolfLogix GPS

By Madrob, Dec. 23, 2008

After reading and researching literally ALL of the models, I finally decided and purchased the Golflogix GPS. Boy have I been pleased!! First of all it was EXTREMELY easy to load and understand. I had it up and running in about 30 minutes, including time for it to acquire satelites.

I wasn't really sure what real help a GPS could be for a hacker like myself (21 handicap) but having the unit provide me distances to hazzards, bunkers, etc and then also suggesting up to three layup yardages, was about as close as I can imaging to having a caddie!!

Without realizing it I was making better shot decisions based on the info and was thrilled to shoot a 96 on such a difficult course for the first time!! Now this is not a good score for a REAL golfer, but for a hack... this course could have easily produced a score somewhere in the "hundies"!! LOL

I have seen other GPS models and while they offer more "bells & whistles" this one to me is everything you need in the simplest format possible.
