With the Golf Buddy GPS you can
take 20,000 courses with you

Golf Buddy Pro

The Golf Buddy GPS stores up to 20,000 courses and does not require membership fees. You'll always know where you are on the course and the distance to the green with this golf rangefinder. The Golf Buddy is an easy to use golf GPS range finder. It allows you to add up to 11 markers, in addition to those already mapped. The GolfBuddy Pro has a 20,000 course storage capability and comes with a high resolution gray scale LCD screen. It does not require any membership fees or course download fees.

The GolfBuddy starts calculating the minute you turn it on. It will automatically recognize the course you are about to play and what hole you are on. Reconfirming what hole you are on is a great feature if you are having a "shotgun" start on a strange course. The Golf Buddy displays distance values for each of the "in play" hazards, as well as aspects of the terrain which affect shot selection and course management. Golf Buddy lists all items which can affect your play, even if you cannot see them from your present location.

The Golf Buddy GPS is designed to confirm to USGA / RNA rulings regarding distance measuring devices, in which the devices may only display information that can be readily found on the course by other means.

You can also add up to 11 markers of your own. Layup distances, landing zones, you name it, they can all be layed out for each hole.

You can also track your shots with the GolfBuddy Pro. Knowing how far you actually hit each club in your bag can go a long way to cutting strokes off your game. Combine that knowledge with the exact distance to the green or other point on the course, will dramatically improve your course management and your score.

The Golf Buddy GPS will continue to update critical distances as you advance. The dynamic view of the green will change shape depending upon your approach so you'll always have the correct distance to the front, center and back of the green from your approach angle.

I registerd my Golf Buddy pro 7 weeks ago. My local course was not in the data base and after repeated emails, and phone calls it still isn't in the data base. I tried to call again today and there is literally no one home. They initially told me it would take 2-3 weeks to get my local course added to the data base. No such good fortune for me though. What bothers me the most is their unresponsiveness. Oh, I called last Thursday about getting my course added and was told to call back Monday as the "course guy" was out sick. So, I call back Monday. No one home. This is really disappointing as I had done lots of research before buying this thing as it appeared to function well and without having to buy annual membership. I guess that doesn't matter if no one is home.

This is a great device to aid you in deciding what club to use. It determines distances, by GPS, to center, front and back of greens, front and back of hazards, etc. You can also keep score with it. It automatically recognizes the course you are playing (even the hole you are on), as it has 20,000 courses loaded worldwide. The best part is, there are no annual subscription fees. You can also check what courses are loaded by going to their website[...]. I highly recommend this product.

I must be technologically challenged, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to enter new targets and then save them. They disappear as soon as I proceed to the next hole, never to be seen again. What keystrokes am I missing? The manual is terrible and phone service is from Korea if you can get through.

Cons: Quality, Difficult to Use, Poor Design

Like others, my wife purchased this for me as a Christmas gift.

The first time I used it, the battery was dead, although I had fully charged it the day before. Apparently, it does not have an auto-off feature, and the battery ran down sitting in the case.........argh!

So I charged it and tried it the next week. The unit was way off several times - as much as 30-40 yards. Also, several times it would just hang up, or reset itself.........and that takes several minutes......so, I returned it, and am in the market for something reliable. One of my golf buddies uses a Bushnell, and doesn't seem to have any problems.

I received this unit as a gift. I took it out of the box, charged it, and went to the course. Since the manufacturer sells these units packaged for regions, my home course was already loaded and the device was usable right out of the box.

The course information is not as good as other units I have seen. hazards and bunkers are not already in the database. You can enter them yourself, however. The manual is poor, but the unit is easy to use, so you can figure it out.

There was an error in the data provided for my home course. I sent them an email, and it was corrected within 4 days. The par in one of the holes was off.

The auto hole detect feature seems to get confused at times, but it is easy to change the hole to correct this issue.

Overall the unit seems to be accurate, requires minimal input during play, it has a scorecard feature which is useful and only a few others in this price range have this feature.

It is light and small enough so that I play with it on my belt and it does not interfere with my swing.
