Garmin nuvi 755T

The Garmin nuvi 755T wide screen (4.3") unit is loaded with new features which are designed to make your travel experiences better than ever.

Text to speech, which is included in the Garmin nuvi 755T is probably one of the most important aids you could ask for in a portable auto GPS unit. Your Nuvi 755T will not only tell you when and what direction to turn, but also tell you the street name on which you are turning.

A new travel aid included with this unit is "lane assist". This feature guides you to the appropriate lane you should be in for the up-coming turn and shows a graphic of road signs and intersections. An arrow indicating the turn you should make is also shown. The unit also displays a direction arrow in the upper left hand corner of the screen indicating the approaching turn direction. In addition the Garmin nuvi 755T shows a 3D rendering of buildings for some areas, allowing you to orient yourself to the surrounding area.

The Garmin nuvi 755T comes equipped with "hot fix", a Garmin exclusive, which calculates your position faster and greatly increases the speed of map redraw. "Where am I" is also included which instantly gives your current latitude and longitude, the nearest address and intersection and the closest police station and fuel station. Forget where you parked your car? With "Garmin locate", your Garmin nuvi 755T will remember your location when you remove it from the car, allowing you to locate where you parked. Great for large parking lots.

Another traffic aid that is included is lifetime Navteq Traffic. This feature gives you current traffic conditions for your area and can reroute your course around traffic tie ups. The Garmin nuvi 755T will even display the current speed limit. Check the following coverage map to see if your area is included. Navteq coverage map The FM receiver is built into the 12volt power cable. The Nuvi 755T is also compatible with MSN Direct. Check out their coverage map here: MSN Direct coverage map.

With preloaded maps of North America, route planning has never been easier. With the Garmin nuvi 755T you can preplan and store up to 10 routes. Route planning also includes multi-destination planning which allows you to indicate various stops along the route. They will then be sorted for the most efficient routing. A great feature for deliveries. You may also select "eco routing" which will give you the most fuel efficient route to your destination. Of course you can also choose your route setup such as, fastest time, shortest distance, etc. The "trip log" feature included with the Garmin nuvi 755T allows you to see where you have been on the map. It will store up to 10,000 points.

Entertainment features included with the Garmin nuvi 755T are MP3 player, world clock with auto time zone converter, currency and unit converter, calculator, audio book and jpeg picture viewer. Equipped with a SD card slot (SD card not included) you can download your favorite music, pictures, books and more. It also comes with over 6 million points of interest and you can add your own if you desire. If you would like to hear your Garmin nuvi 755T over your car's FM radio, you can do that too. The Nuvi 755T comes with a FM transmitter that will transmit your Nuvi's sound to your car radio. There is even a built-in headphone jack. The photo navigate feature allows you to navigate to geotagged photos. Download Google® Panoramio™ pictures via Garmin Connect™ Photos website and navigate to them.

Because the unit is compatible with Garmin Garage, you can download a variety of voices for your unit to use along with different vehicle icons to be displayed. Garmin lock is also provided allowing you to secure access to your unit.

This is the second GPS I have owned. I upgraded from a Garmin C330 which had about 2000miles. So far I have placed about 500miles on the 755t. Nothing to complain about, everything works as advertise. Very easy to use. Much easier than a TomTom.

Pros
-Easy to use
-Traffic report
-4.3" screen
Cons
-Price
-Lane assist is so so.

I have never owned a GPS unit before, so I am not an expert. However, I have noticed a few things, good and bad.

-- It is a fun machine and I am glad I purchased it.

-- It is easy to follow the spoken instructions, unless you think you know better.

-- It is easy to enter destinations, although on the first couple of tries, it could not properly locate a 10 year old address, small sample but significant in my mind. I suspect this is the map source rather that the Garmin, but never the less, it works or it doesn't.

Excellent gps

Solidly built and designed gps. Performance seems to be as good as you could ask for. Would be nice if they included a manual but for the most part you can figure the unit out just by using it a few times.

Overall, this is one of the best if not the best GPS you will get for the money. It's loaded with all the features you need in a GPS .... Search no further, I've compared them all, this is the one that wins the award. The only cons are that the FM transmitter is a little weak and you cannot switch between the internal speaker and your car stereo speakers while on a call. Also, the Lane Assist feature is not supported in all areas, so check if your highway systems support this feature if this is a selling point for you. Other than those two small things, this is a great GPS and I would buy it again and again.

Will it always find the best route? Probably not. But if your expectations are reasonable, I think you'll like this product. So far, it seems to work very well. Would I buy it again, yes, or at least something very similar. Though I thought I needed multiple routes, so far I've not used them, and it's a pretty simple matter to put in your next destination when leaving your first.
